BENTON - A Morehouse woman was arrested Friday on drug charges.
Linda Kay Gillean, 53, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Scott County Sheriff's Department.
The arrest was made following a traffic stop by Deputy Bobby Penrod of a vehicle driven by Gillean which resulted in the seizure of over seven grams of methamphetamine, some drug paraphernalia and over $3,000 cash.
Sheriff Rick Walter said traffic stops are one of the best tools available to law enforcement, not only to promote highway safety, but also to interdict those committing other criminal offenses.
"When criminals are mobile, they are vulnerable. When you have an aggressive patrol program, you are going to stop some criminal activity," Walter said.
Gillean was released after she posted a $150,000 bond.
