ORAN -- Oran High School will have its fourth basketball coach in the past five seasons next season after coach Jason Andrews recently resigned his post.

Andrews guided the Eagles to the Class 1 District 2 title game this past season in his second year at the helm. The Eagles fell to eventual state runner-up Bell City.

Oran finished the season 12-14 and is expected to lose just one senior from its roster.

Andrews said he really enjoyed his time at Oran and the decision was difficult.

"It really was," he said. "Not just talent-wise, but this would have been my third year up here and you get attached to the kids."

If Andrews has his way, he will not be out of coaching long, as he has applied for the vacant coaching job at Doniphan. Andrews formerly was an assistant at Doniphan.

Andrews, whose hometown is not far from Doniphan, which is his wife's hometown, said his decision to step down was a "leap of faith," but the right move for his family.
