Well Sikeston, how many historical buildings within our city are left? For example, the Federal Compress, Scott County Milling, Sterling Department Store downtown, Shy's Drugstore and Soda Fountain downtown, Coca-Cola Bottling Co., the Dunn Hotel, Airport School. These are just to name a few. Wake up Sikestonians and quit tearing down and start fixing history. It's more practical than a subdivision that looks the same or a bunch of franchises. I'm ashamed of all those in charge, now and in the past, and some of you are my friends. It appalls me to see what our community has turned into. Fires are too easy for making history disappear, thus making room for new businesses and buildings that have no history. In the past the only legitimate fire was lightning burning down the church downtown and we all know that. Don't keep our heads in the sand like ostriches. Well, if you want to bring things back to Sikeston and create jobs, get out of your own little world. This isn't St. Louis, Kansas City or Memphis. It's Sikeston. It's not even Cape Girardeau. You can look at the people who leave Sikeston every morning that migrate to Cape and areas looking for jobs and to shop. The migration starts at 5 a.m. everyday. Get out of bed and look at the traffic on 55 leaving Sikeston.

We may live on the poor side of town, but on Smith and Sixth Streets there are people throwing trash there everyday. It's not the people that live there that are throwing trash. I went there one day and it was cleaned up real pretty. A week later, it was full of trash. Start watching these streets, the ones that are throwing all the trash out. We like our street and we'd like to keep it clean. I'm tired of people throwing trash in my yard, too. If I catch them, I'm going to have them arrested.

I'm calling about the woman who continues to call and whine about her mentally retarded daughter who doesn't get dental help. This is our world. You can't expect the government to do everything for you. She is your responsibility. My goodness, save some money up so this girl can get dental help. Ask your dentist if you can pay it a little at a time. You are not looking for a way out of your situation. You are just looking for more and more benefits. That's the problem with this world. You are supposed to strive to get out of your situation and not always rely on the government to do everything for you. If she works at the Workshop, I'm sure she gets a little bit of money, I'm sure it's not much. But she needs to start putting a little bit of money away. She's not hurting that bad or you would have already taken this child to see a dentist. Now I'm wondering what kind of mother you are to sit by and see your daughter suffer because the government will not get her teeth fixed. What did the people do before we had the government giving us Medicaid and helping everybody? You rely on the government for everything. The government will help you, but you've got to help yourself. How much longer do you think you can get by with this? I'm sure she's on Medicaid, probably has been all her life. Have you ever thought of getting a job to pay for expenses? That's what the rest of us have to do. We don't have dental insurance, we don't qualify for Medicaid, nor would I ask for it because I have more gumption in my life not to always ask people to do something for me. You laid there, you had that child, she is your responsibility. She is not the taxpayers responsibility. You need to wake up. You have been relying on the government, I'm sure, for all this child's 43-year-old life. Did you ever think about getting a job or taking out a plan? Maybe you would have to pay for it every month. But don't rely on the government to take care of all your needs. This world cannot go on the way it is.

Sikeston doesn't really care for the poor working people. Why don't you move out close to Pharris Ridge? You're in New Madrid County and just a few miles from Sikeston. You don't have to worry about Sikeston law. You don't have to worry about having your dogs on a leash. You don't have to pay taxes to Sikeston anymore. When you get license for your cars, it's a lot cheaper than what Sikeston charges. It's just a few miles. There are several nice houses out there for sale. I'm thinking about moving out of Sikeston so from now on my tax dollars will go to New Madrid County. When all the poor people and the working people leave Sikeston, you will just have all rich people to pick up the tab. It's the working people that makes the living in this town. Besides, you think you're Christians. You better read James. I don't want to be in your shoes when you die, especially you Republicans.
