Oniece Watkins

BERNIE -- Oniece Embrey Watkins, 81, died Oct. 24, 2005, in Malden.

Born June 18, 1924, in Bernie, daughter of the late Caroll and Coillee Lena Johnson Embrey, she was a lifelong resident of Bernie. She had operated a daycare for children out of her home and was a member of the Bernie Alliance Church.

On Sept. 24, 1941, in Malden, she married Lindell Watkins who preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1999.

Also preceding her in death were: one daughter, Shirley Wolters; two brothers, Winfred Embrey and Lester Embrey; and four sisters, Onieda Juedeman, Lela Mae Brown, Ines Medlin and Cora Lee Embrey.

Survivors include: four sons, Robert Wayne Watkins of California, Marland Ronald Watkins of North Carolina, Roy Watkins of Sikeston and Glendell Ray Watkins of Bernie; two daughters, Barbara Sue Hover of Harviel and Linda Faye Davis of Haleyville, Ala.; one brother, Arvil Embrey; one sister, Barbara Jean Smith of Rolla; and 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Cletus Patterson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
