ADVANCE - Margie Nell Hicks, 71, died July 26, 2006, at her home.

Born April 15, 1935, at Morley, daughter of the late Dessman Edlridge and Myrtle Ona Bean Harris, she was raised in the Bootheel, where she had worked on the farm. She was a retired child care worker from the Juvenile Center at Bloomfield, had worked s a waitress, at a laundry and cleaners, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

On Nov. 28, 1953, in Sikeston, she was united in marriage to Joseph Edward Hicks, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Gary Allen Hicks of Bloomfield and Ronald Steven Hicks of Sikeston; two daughters, Donna Gail Moreira of Sheldon, S.C. and Melana Jo Long of Advance; three sisters, Glennie Pearson of New Madrid, Lillian Graham of Morley and Dessie Perren of Lamar, Ark.; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Five brothers, three sisters, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Bob Harris will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
