Delta runs away from Lady Bluejays

DELTA -- The Charleston Lady Bluejays made a trip to Delta Thursday night, only to come up short against the Delta Lady Bobcats, 56-25.

Although the Lady Jays were only behind by five points at the end of the first quarter, 17-12, Delta would go on to outscore them 39-13 in the remaining three quarters of play.

Charleston (1-5) was led by Taylor Duenne's eight points. Phyliccia Turner added seven and made the only 3-pointer the Lady Jays could manage. They went 4-11 from the free throw line.

Taylor Smith led the Lady Bobcats (6-1) with 11 points. Sarah Keys had nine points and Brittany Deprow chipped in with eight. Smith, Keys and Deprow each made a 3-pointer as well.

The Charleston Lady Bluejays are off until Jan. 3, when they will travel to Caruthersville to take on the Lady Tigers.

SIKESTON -- The Scott County Central Bravettes lost at home to the Doniphan Donettes 51-37 Thursday night. No further information was available from the game.

Scott Central will be in action again tonight when they host the Greenville Lady Bears.

MALDEN -- Donielle Howell paced Scott City with 12 points as the Rams fell to Malden on the road.

Becky Holder added 11 points for Scott City (3-5).
