FERNANDINA, Fla. -- Myrtle Nadine Stallings, 86, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died July 3, 2006, at Quality Healthcare in Fernandina Beach. She left the Sikeston area three years ago to enjoy her later years at Magnolia Manor in St. Mary's, Ga.
Born Sept. 30, 1919, in East Prairie, Mo., the first child of 15 born to the late Tyrus Henry and Julia Weakley Walters, her main interests were her beloved family and friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sikeston and was actively involved in her church, Garden Club and Beta Sigma Phi.
On May 17, 1940, in Benton, Mo., she married Marion Walter Stallings who preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1999.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight siblings, Donnie Eugene Walters, Andy Walters, Judy Ann Dixon, Mildred Scott, Joe Walters, James Walters and Evelyn Hyslip.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Angela Stallings of St. Mary's; one daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Phil Ryan of Overland Park, Kan.; three brothers, Richard Walters of Sikeston, Bill Walters of Springfield, Mo., and Kenneth Walters of East Prairie; four sisters, Bernita Stegall of Las Cruces, N.M., Ann Stretch of North Augusta, S.C., and Maxine Talley and Eileen Norman of Sikeston; three grandchildren, Shannon (Tim) Marshall, Ashley (Dan) Maximuk and George Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Autumn Marshall and Bailey Marshall.
Visitation is from 10-11:30 a.m. Monday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Dempster Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Sikeston. The Rev. Geoff Posegate and Rev. Jeremiah Reeve will officiate.
Mrs. Stallings will rest in peace at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
