SIKESTON - Santa Claus took time from his busy pre-Christmas schedule to join the children at the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center for their Christmas party on Wednesday morning. He presented each youngster with a sack of goodies and talked with them about their lists. Approximately 45 children participated in the holiday activity.

CARUTHERSVILLE - The St. Francis Levee District of Missouri received an Outstanding Maintenance Award by the Memphis District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wednesday. The award recognized the district's effective maintenance program during 1986.

SIKESTON - While juvenile crime appears to be leveling off, and actually declining in certain age groups nationally, juveniles account for one-third of arrests in Sikeston. According to Lt. James Haley, Department of Public Safety, in 1995 juveniles accounted for 37.64 percent of the total number of crimes investigated. So far in 1996, that number is 30.09 percent.

EAST PRAIRIE - The First Security State Bank and its Board of Directors has donated $75,000 to the East Prairie Recreation Corporation to help in the construction of the East Prairie Family Recreation Facility.
