HAVEN, Wis. -- Former Sikeston resident Tom Dawson did not make the final cut at the U.S. Senior Open Championships after shooting a 77 in Round 2 at Whistling Straits in Haven, Wis.

Dawson shot a three-over par, 75 in the first round and stood in 74th place. His Round 2 score of five-over, 77 left him out of the final two rounds. He finished tied for 8th place out of 156 golfers.

While some of his statistics were actually better than the first day, such as average drive distance (274.5) and percentage of fairways hit (9-14, 64 percent), his short game ultimately led to his worse scores as he made just nine of 18 greens in regulation.

He only had one birdie, compared to the three he had the first day.

He had 12 pars, four bogeys and one double bogey, both coming on hole No. 8.
