Rodeo brings lots to do
The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the 2007 Rodeo Run sponsors: Randy's RX, SEMO Health Network, YMCA of Southeast Missouri, Sterling Health Care Services, Foot and Ankle Centers of Southeast Missouri, Sikeston Rotary Club, Sikeston Imaging Center, Ponder Funeral Home, Home Advantage, Missouri Bootheel Regional Consortium Inc., Road ID, Health Facilities Rehab Services, Missouri Delta Medical Center, Pepsi, Allen Home Care Services Inc., Coca-Cola, Dr. Colleen Hunter-Pearson, Dr. Mowaffaq R. Said and Dr. Thomas Waltrip. We had a great response of runners and walkers from Southeast Missouri, Alabama and Ohio.
This was our second year to sponsor this 5K (3.1 mile) event and we are happy to be able to provide the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund with a share of the proceeds. For those of you who do not know, this fund assists cowboys that have been injured and is especially helpful to those who don't have insurance.
If you were not able to participate in this year's event, put it on the calendar next year the Saturday before Rodeo week.
The Chamber was also been busy selling Rodeo T-shirts, caps, etc. There were so many activities this year to go along with the rode. In Downtown Sikeston there was the third annual Cowboy Up Festival featuring "Lunch with the Rodeo Clowns." This year the Depot brought in representatives from the Sac and Fox Indian Nations who demonstrated native crafts and were dressed in their tribal clothing on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to U.S. Bank the Rawhide and Dusty Show came for Friday and Saturday to demonstrate their bullwhip and lasso abilities along with their trick pony performances. Friday and Saturday there was musical entertainment and even a bank robbery. We congratulate the Depot and the Historic Midtown Development Group on working together to put on such a fabulous family event.
And, if you haven't been yet, attend the Quilt Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Clinton Building.
