MATTHEWS -- A Matthews man was injured after his pickup truck overturned in a ditch Sunday evening in New Madrid County.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 8:21 p.m. on a private property located at 1261 State Highway AE in Matthews, the accident occurred as a vehicle driven by James A. Hann, 43, traveled backward into a ditch and overturned. He was air evacuated to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where he was treated for moderate injuries.
Earlier Sunday, two Poplar Bluff teens were injured in a single-vehicle accident in Stoddard County. The Patrol reports at 6:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 60, three miles west of Dudley, the accident occurred as motorist Morgan B. Allen, 17, of Poplar Bluff ran her vehicle off the left side of the road, overcorrected, lost control, ran off the right side of the road and overturned.
Allen sustained minor injuries. Her passenger, Samantha N. Albrecht, 16, of Poplar Bluff received moderate injuries. They were transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Several other accidents, including two fatalities, occurred throughout Troop E over the Labor Day weekend. The first fatality occurred Sunday evening in Wayne County, after a 29-year-old man from Lincoln, Ill., overturned in his all-terrain vehicle. The other involved a 15-year-old from Broseley who was killed Monday evening after his vehicle became airborne, and he was partially ejected from the vehicle.
