NEW MADRID -- A New Madrid soldier was among five reported killed from gunfire or roadside bombs on Sunday.

The family of 1st Lt. Camden Bock was informed of his death Monday by officials from Fort Campbell, Ky. He is the son of Riley and Jill Bock.

Bock, 24, was a member of the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell and was on patrol in Baghdad when his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb.

No further information was available on the incident.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

The five soldiers' deaths bring total U.S. troop deaths in October to 85.
