SIKESTON -- Helen Beatrice Jaynes, 80, died at 11 p.m. March 22, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Born Feb. 12, 1927, in Kennett, daughter of the late Frank and Gladys Scott Jones, she moved to Sikeston from Parma in 1972. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was a foster grandparent at Matthews Elementary School for 10 years. ...

SIKESTON -- Helen Beatrice Jaynes, 80, died at 11 p.m. March 22, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 12, 1927, in Kennett, daughter of the late Frank and Gladys Scott Jones, she moved to Sikeston from Parma in 1972. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was a foster grandparent at Matthews Elementary School for 10 years. She was a cook on a tugboat for 10 years for the M&G Transport Co. in Cincinnati and had owned and operated several restaurants and lounges in Southeast Missouri.

On Feb. 4, 1944, in Manila, Ark., she married Leslie Jaynes who preceded her in death on June 10, 1974.

One sister, Ruby Cagle also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Betty Jaynes of Chaffee and Roger and Debbie Jaynes of East Prairie; one daughter and son-in-

law, Roxanne and Larry McRoy of Sikeston; one brother, Bobby Jones of Hazelwood; one sister, Pat Cruze of Campbell; and 17 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Randy Thomas, pastor of the First General Baptist Church in Morehouse, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
