CHAFFEE -- Stella Mae Mills, 93, died at 6:30 a.m. July 7, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 15, 1912, daughter of the late Dean Emerson and Nola America Proctor Stone, she was a retired machine operator from Sports Specialty Shoemakers, Inc. in Chaffee. She had lived in DeWitt, Ark., and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Chaffee Chapter 48 Order of Eastern Star.
On Sept. 19, 1929, she married Julius Richard "J.R." Mills, who preceded her in death on June 5, 1988.
One son, three brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Vivan L. Mills of Winfield and Gary Mills of St. Charles; three daughters, Lawanda Oliver of Festus, Glenda Bockelman of York Spring, Penn. and Brenda Hasty of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Onita Schearf of Chaffee; and 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Watis Harrell will officiate.
Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Morley.
Pallbearers will be: Eric Hasty, Roger Oliver, Kevin Oliver, Rick Oliver, Gary Mills II and Lonnie Hasty.
