BLOOMFIELD - An investigation is under way by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Investigative Unit following the death of a man taken into custody during Thursday's warrant roundup.
James Dobbs, 43, of Bloomfield reportedly committed suicide Thursday morning at the Stoddard County jail by hanging himself, according to a news release issued by Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner.
After jail personnel discovered the apparent suicide, Dobbs was transported by ambulance to Missouri Southern Healthcare Emergency Room. He was pronounced dead by hospital personnel.
Earlier Thursday Dobbs was taken into custody during a regional warrant roundup. He was charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance, felony distribution of a controlled substance with intent distribute and the misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
