SIKESTON -- Helen C. Matthews, 74, died March 27, 2007, after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 3, 1933, in Charleston, to the late Ernest and Mae Cox Maynard, she was a housewife and homemaker. A member of Miner Baptist Church, she was active in many church functions.
On Dec. 22, 1951, in Savannah, Ga., she married Donald F. Matthews who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Terri Matthews of Sikeston and Jim and Debbie Matthews of Jackson; one daughter and son-in-law, Lea Ann and Ross Brummett of Jefferson City, Tenn.; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois Ann and Jerry Masterson of Sikeston; 10 grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Matthews of Jackson, Jennie and Ryan Beltz of Jackson, Molly and Will Brummett of Jefferson City, Wendi and Russell Limbaugh of Kelso, Hallie and Eric Bronner of St. Louis, Amy and Lyle Malloy of Cleveland, Miss.; Clay and Annie Matthews of Stillwater, Okla. and Mary Matthews of Cleveland, Miss.; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher Ross Limbaugh, Benn Caleb Malloy, Bylar Cates Malloy and Jude Mitchell Bronner.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Murray Maynard; one sister, Marge Sitzes; and one grandson, Ben Matthews.
Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Miner Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Clay Matthews, Eric Bronner, Lyle Malloy, Russell Limbaugh, Ryan Beltz, Ryan Matthews and Will Brummett.
