SIKESTON - Burl O. Vines, 79, died at 12:55 a.m. Nov. 3, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau due to injuries he sustained in a fall while working at a residence in Wappapello.
Born Sept. 20, 1926, in Matthews, son of the late Guy and Golie Beardsley Vines, he owned and operated Vines Auto Repair Shop from 1974 to 1986. He was a farmer and residential carpenter for many years and attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston.
On Jan. 5, 1945, in New Madrid, he married Geraldine Carroll who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Dewayne and Janet Vines of Sikeston, Sammy and Nancy Vines of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Tommy and Randy Vines of Pearland, Texas; five sisters, Jan Higdon of Bloomfield, Emma Lou Warf and Alfreda Reid of Lilbourn, Ellen Grady of Belleville, Ill., and Ruth Etta Hunt of Chesterfield; four grandchildren, Joey Vines of Oklahoma City, Angelia Vines of Cushing, Okla., Justin Vines of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Bethany Vines of Corpus Christie, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Victoria Vines, Alexandria Vines and AubreAnna Vines of Oklahoma City and Justin Vines Jr. of Colorado Springs.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Joe McCullough, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
