ALMA, Ill. - Howard Davis Sr., 69, died July 23, 2007, at his home. Born Aug. 20, 1937, in Dexter, Mo., son of the late Moy Wray and Hortense "Tensey" Farmer Davis, he was a former machine operator for Lincoln Engineering in St. Louis, Mo. and a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1957 until 1964...

ALMA, Ill. - Howard Davis Sr., 69, died July 23, 2007, at his home.

Born Aug. 20, 1937, in Dexter, Mo., son of the late Moy Wray and Hortense "Tensey" Farmer Davis, he was a former machine operator for Lincoln Engineering in St. Louis, Mo. and a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1957 until 1964.

On Sept. 14, 1962, in Dexter, he married Sue Davenport, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Howard Wray Davis Jr. of Woodlawn; one daughter, Karen Jean Hicks of Ramsey; one sister, Joyce McQuary of Dexter; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Toby Sue Kutz; and one brother, Donald Davis.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday. Dave Trover will officiate

Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
