CRYSTAL CITY - Laura S. Ryan, 84, formerly of Puxico, died March 30, 2006, at her home.
Born Jan. 6, 1922, daughter of the late William T. and Fannie Hastings Burge, she opened and operated Stylette Beauty Salon until 1986 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crystal City, where she served as an usher. She was a member of the Jefferson County Art Guild, Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Horticulture Study Club.
In 1940, she married Jerry Patrick Ryan, who preceded her in death in 1995.
Three sisters, Francis Dunn, Nadine Turnipseed and Lela Fay Gillespie also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one daughter, Joy Ryan of St. Louis; three brother-in-laws, Carl Ryan of Puxico, Bryant (Phyllis) Ryan of Morehouse and Elmer "Doc" Dunn of Puxico; one sister-in-law, Nola Ryan of Greenville, Texas; and a special friend, Tom.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Festus. The Rev. Margie Woods will officiate.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Cemetery, near Puxico. The Rev. Dennis Doublin of Puxico will officiate.
Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Puxico is in charge of local arrangements.
