CLARKTON - Charles Frederick "Bob" Meese, 84, formerly of Tallapoosa and Malden, died Sept. 30, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter.

Born Oct. 4, 1921, at Houston, Ark., to the late J.H. and Nancy Jane Lee Meese, he was a retired farmer and for many years he was a New Madrid County 4-H leader. He was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Tallapoosa and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.

On July 3, 1941, at Caruthersville, he married Lucille Marlow, who preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 1985.

Four brothers, Nen Meese, Jack Meese, Carl Meese and Clyde Meese; and three sisters, Verlon Hogan, Corinne Adkins and Violet Meese, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: two brothers, James Meese of Burton, Mich., and John Meese of Clarkton; one sister, Gladys Hartsfield of Malden; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. The Rev. Jim Comman officiated.

Burial followed in Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
