CHARLESTON -- Fred Eugene "Freddie Bender" Tubbs, 49, formerly of Wyatt, died at 10:50 a.m. Sept. 30, 2006, in Charleston.
Born May 20, 1957, at Wyatt, the son of Fred Eugene Bender Sr. of Wyatt and Faye Isom Sams of Grandin, he had lived his entire life in Mississippi County where he was employed on the river and also with Dugan Farms.
Survivors include: two sons, Jason Alan Tubbs of Cape Girardeau and Lance Eugene Tubbs of Charleston; one daughter, Shawna Marie Vinson of Diehlstadt; two brothers, Gary Wayne Bender and Johnny Joe Sams of Granite City, Ill.; seven sisters, Debbie Parker of Nashville, Tenn., Pam Tubbs, Vickie Bender and Mary Messick of Granite City, Melissa Medlock of Wyatt and Charlotte Bender and Leslie Sams of Grandin; six grandchildren; and his stepfather, Johnny Sams of Grandin.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Lee Bender.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until time of memorial services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Dean Wallace, pastor of the Wyatt Baptist Church, will officiate.
Private burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
