MATTHEWS -- David and Barbara Yant have announced the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Dawn, to Richard Dale Oliphant Jr., son of Barbara Sterling of Sikeston and Richard Oliphant in East Prairie.
A 1997 graduate of New Madrid County Central, the future bride is employed at Tetra Pak. She is the granddaughter of Norma Jean Yant of Sikeston and the late Charles "Bud" Yant and Durwood and Mattie White.
The prospective bridegroom is a 1998 graduate of East Prairie High School and also works at Tetra Pak. He is the grandson of Tommy Freeman of Milan, Tenn., and the late Lois Freeman, Winford "D" Oliphant, James "Shack" Smotherman and Jeanette Smotherman.
Plans are being finalized for a Dec. 29 wedding.
