SIKESTON - The south bypass street project began this week near Hardee's Restaurant on Highway 61 South. Work is being done by Lappe Cement Finishing of Perryville. Upon completion, the street will give concrete trucks at Hedrick Concrete a direct route to Main Street, enabling them to avoid the congested area surrounding the Kingsway Mall.

SIKESTON - The theme for this year's Missouri Delta Medical Center benefit dinner/dance is "An Evening in the Orient," scheduled Oct. 24 at the Sikeston Armory. Proceeds will go to the pediatric ward of the hospital.

SIKESTON - Two incidents of shots fired were reported to the Department of Public Safety in the early hours on Sunday. No injuries were reported in either incident for which there are apparently no suspects.
