Speakout 4/30

Monday, April 30, 2007

Robert W. Gee, retired Captain of Sikeston Public Safety did not pass away. Robert P. Gee of Portageville, Mo., age 81 passed away. Thank you for your concerns though. Shiela Gee, Gilbertsville, Ky.

I was glad to see the charges dropped against Bill Ferrell. I have known him for 40 years and I did not believe a word of it. Thanks Bill for your service to Scott County and hold your head high!

Our new Charleston police chief, Robert Hearnes completed running our Charleston Azalea Festival 5K Run. Fact to notice all criminals in Charleston, don't try to outrun Mr. Hearnes because he can run three miles.

Why is it that the Scott County Commissioners are donating money to an organization that claims to be independent of them - Scott County K-9 search and rescue. From my understanding they are also providing insurance for this group. Why do the commissioners not provide insurance and funding to our rescue squad or our fire department? I thought that a government entity could/

should not make donations. Maybe here is another reason why we do not want to support the sales tax again.

If anyone has a commercial popcorn popper, leave your name and number in SpeakOut.
