Woman killed in I-55 accident

BENTON - A Farber resident was fatally injured and a Scott County resident sustained serious injuries early Thursday afternoon on Interstate 55, near Benton.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 12:15 p.m. two miles south of Benton. Tammy L. Rol, 37, was driving south when her vehicle crossed the median and struck the northbound vehicle driven by Rebecca L. Jackson, 30, of Farber.

Jackson was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau where she was pronounced dead. Rol, who was ejected from the vehicle, received serious injuries and was also taken to St. Francis Medical Center.
