TOMBALL, Texas -- Vera Gertrude Stafford Wilkinson, 83, formerly of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died July 22, 2007, at Sam Houston Garden in Houston.

Born July 21, 1924, the daughter of the late James and Emma Arnold Hodges, she was a supervisor at Davis Electric for many years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star.

On Aug. 12, 1939, in Swinton, she married James Hurley who preceded her death in 1953.

She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Glen T. Wilkinson; one daughter, Patricia Stafford; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: four daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara and Terry Kitchen of Cape Girardeau, Brenda and Dan Narsh and Janice Stafford of Houston and Victoria and C.S. Harding of Montgomery; two brothers, Bill Hodges of Scott City, Mo., and James "Bud" Hodges of East Prairie, Mo.; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, Mo., where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Zack Strong officiating.

Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
