James Poley
EAST PRAIRIE -- James E. Poley, 80, died at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 11, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born July 2, 1927, in Mississippi County, to the late Robert William and Jen Nettie Burnes Poley, he had had lived his entire life in Mississippi County where he was employed in farming. He was of the Baptist belief.
On April 4, 1953, he married Pearl Marie Hutson who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, James Alvin Poley of Paducah, Ky., and Earl Eugene Poley of East Prairie; four brothers, Floyd Gene Poley of Anderson, S.C., Robert Poley Jr. of St. Louis, Delbert Wayne Poley of Bisco, Ark., and George W. Poley of Sikeston; four sisters, Beulah Everly of Benton, Matilda Ann Hedge of East Prairie, Lola Mae Hayden of Bellview and Peggy June Hardin of Sikeston; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin Poley, Henry Poley and Leonard Cortez Poley; and one sister, Christine Parker.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Bill Meeks, pastor of the First General Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Phillip Clubbs, Johnny Stokes, Dusty Caldwell, Neal Weems, Alvin Smith and James Poley Jr.
