ORAN -- Ada Jean Wagoner was welcomed into heaven on Aug. 30, 2007. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Shirley Mason, at the age of 89.
Born on Aug. 16, 1918, in Oran, Missouri, to Peter and Jewel Kappler, she married Charles Wagoner on June 12, 1935. He preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 1979.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
Survivors include: her son, Charles "Speedy" Wagoner of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Shirley Mason of Oran; four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Wagoner was an active member of the Oran Baptist Church for many years, serving as a teacher and mentor to many and later became a member of the Chaffee Baptist Church. She attended weekly Bible studies, and served the Lord through serving others.
Clubs and organizations included the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She also wrote for local newspapers for over 50 years, including the "Bits and Pieces" column for the Chaffee Signal. She spent her life in service to others, by cooking and serving meals at the Chaffee Nutrition Center, preparing income taxes for senior citizens, driving the elderly to doctor's appointments, and visiting and inspecting nursing homes.
She was a great blessing to her family and friends.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Oran with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating.
Burial will follow in Friend Cemetery at Oran.
