ST. LOUIS - Willie Blanchard passed away Sunday, July 9, 2006.

He was the oldest son of the late Angelo "Shug" and Kate "Katie" Blanchard.

He was born and raised in Charleston where he graduated from Charleston High School in 1960. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was employed by McDonnell Aircraft of Saint Louis and worked there until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying model RC airplanes and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by a son, Antonio Blanchard of St. Louis; a daughter, Michelle Beasley (Radford) of St. Louis; two brothers, Ulysses (Betty) Blanchard of St. Louis and Mitchell Blanchard of Mitchellville, Md.; four sisters, Ruth Smith (late Arthur) and Theresa Simmons (John), both of St. Louis, Barbara Walker (Kenneth), Greenwood Village, Colo.; Ernestine Giles (Willie) of Kansas City, four grandchildren; and five nephews; Angelo Cortez Blanchard of St. Louis, Kevin Clark of Kansas City, Keith Blanchard of the state of Hawaii, Michael Walker of Chicago and Matthew Walker of the state of New York.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and James Blanchard.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, July 14, at Officer's Funeral Home at 1905 Union Blvd. in St. Louis.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15 at Williams Funeral Home in Charleston.

Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery.
