EAST PRAIRIE -- The Portageville Bulldog Softball team hosted the Lady Eagles from East Prairie and the Malden Lady Green Wave for a round robin tournament on Saturday.
In the first game, Portageville beat Malden 19-1. Portageville's leading hitters were Lauren Kellams 5-5, Underwood 4-5, Mary Hannah Fisher 3-4, and DeAnna Deere with a 2-run home run. On the mound for Portageville, Deere had 10 strikeouts. In the second game, East Prairie and Malden faced off. Malden was victorious in the match up with a 16-6 win over the Lady Eagles.
In the final game of the day, the Lady Bulldogs shut out the East Prairie Eagles 9-0. On the mound, Deere had 20 strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Leading hitters for Portageville were Lechenette 2-2 with 3 RBIs and Kellye Penn 2-2.
The Lady Dogs stand at 5-0 after one full week of play. Portageville travels to Scott City on Monday for a 4 p.m. game.
