BLOOMFIELD - The Rev. Edsel P. Pruett, 79, formerly of Poplar Bluff, died June 23, 2007, at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing.
Born June 20,1928, at Bloomfield, to the late Johnny and Mary Osburn Pruett, he retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970, after serving 23 years. He was ordained as a non-denominational minister in 1958 and had served at several churches in the area, as well as in Alaska and California. In 1990, he moved to Bloomfield, where he was a member of The Living Waters Worship Center.
On March 31, 1951, he married Reva Cook, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Bloyce Pruett of Kansas City; three brothers, Loran Pruett of Bloomfield, Carman Pruett of Kenton, Tenn. and Cletus Pruett of Dexter; three sisters, Claudina Mann of Jackson and Fredia Waggoner and Lora Lee Cox, both of Dexter; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, James William Pruett; and two sisters, Velda Metcalf and Verma Nancy Pruett.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The Revs. James Hook and Cotus James officiated.
Burial followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, with full military rites conducted by the Stoddard County Veterans Honor Guard.
