Deadly accident

One person was killed in an accident Thursday morning on Highway 61. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as a vehicle traveling south driven by Samuel H. Hector, 82, of New Madrid crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound dump truck towing a trailer, driven by Terry R. Moore, 36, of Broseley. Hector was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene by New Madrid County Coroner Jim McSpadden. Moore sustained minor injuries and sought treatment at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
