BENTON -- An Oran man is in jail on drug-related charges following an investigation that began in Sikeston Thursday.

According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, James W. Hendrix, 58, was charged Friday with attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of chemicals with intent to manufacture and possession of drug paraphernalia, following a three-agency cooperative effort.

The investigation began in Sikeston when a Sikeston DPS detective contacted Scott County Sheriff's drug investigators, advising that Hendrix was purchasing controlled over-the-counter drugs at Sikeston drug stores. Hendrix was contacted and a quantity of the drugs were located in his car.

Permission was obtained for deputies and the SEMO Drug Task Force Agents to search his residence near Morley where other items commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were located and seized.

Hendrix is in custody in the Scott County Jail with a $100,000 bond. He will be arraigned in associate circuit court this week on the charges.
