Darby garners player-of-the-week honors

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Bulls Adam Darby was selected the Kitty League Hitter of the Week.

Darby, a six-foot, 205-pound outfielder from Harding University, had big production in limited plate appearances with five hits in nine at-bats.

Of his five hits, three were for extra bases. He had two home runs and a triple which accounted for five RBIs and three runs scored.

Jake Smith of the Owensboro Oilers, is named Pitcher of the Week.

In one game he had a 1-0 record in 7 1/3 innings pitched. He gave up no runs while allowing two hits and two bases on balls and striking out 11.

SIKESTON -- The scheduled doubleheader between the Sikeston Bulls and Farmington Firebirds in Kitty League play was canceled Monday night at VFW Stadium due to rain.

The Bulls are on the road tonight and Wednesday night at the Fulton, Ky. Railroaders.

Sikeston will be back home on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. to take on the Railroaders for the last time this season.
