CAPE GIRARDEAU - Clyde Frank Flaker, 84, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Dec. 22, 2006, at the Lenoir Nursing Home in Columbia.
He was born on Sept. 8, 1922, at Florissant, the son of Carl B. and Catherine Ebesmeyer Flaker.
He was a jeweler. He was a member of the Elks Club, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA certified) and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer.
He served in the special forces branch of the Army in World War II.
He graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.
On Dec. 2, 1944, in St. Louis, he married Mary D. Cook. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2005.
Survivors include two sons, Gregory C. (Sondra) Flaker of Columbia, and Michael J. (Colleen) Flaker of Sikeston; two daughters, Lisa A. (Wayne) Green of Mandeville, La., and Amy J. (Matt) Craig of St. Louis; and 10 grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Norma, and a brother, Louis.
Six siblings preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Parish prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. The Rev. David Hulshof will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers are Michael Flaker, Gregory Flaker, Wayne Green, Matt Craig, Tyler Flaker, Nathan Green and Jason Green.
