Speakout 5/20

I was watching the cooking show, Barefoot Contessa. I was just wondering, are they taping in her home or is that a studio they're taping in? I'd appreciate your answer.

My wife bought a drill at a store in Cape. I live 60 miles south of there. When my wife got home, I put the drill together and one piece was missing. I called the store and told them about the missing piece. They said they couldn't mail it to me, but I could come back to Cape and get it. I told them I would call the dealer because I didn't want anybody else to go through what I did. What if I had lived in another state? Is that what you call customer satisfaction?

I was just wondering if anyone has any information on Sikeston High School Class of 1967 Reunion for this year.

I just want to say I have a problem with all the illegal immigrants and the way they think they have certain rights. Why do I have to push one for English when dialing long distance? They should push one for Spanish. I can understand if they want to live here and find good jobs, but they need to go through the proper channels to become an American citizen. They don't even pay taxes, working illegally for cash. A lot of it is our fault. Americans want something for nothing, such as cheap labor, so we promote this kind of action. Farmers Branch, Texas has the right idea. They voted not to rent to illegals. The only fault I see with this is that it's the landlord's job to determine whether or not they are using legal IDs when renting. The government, not the landlord, should be stopping this flow of illegals into our country.

I just wonder how can anyone borrow money from the USDA to buy a house that has felonies against them? Maybe drugs and other different types of felonies.

I would advise people who live in the areas where the crop dusters are spraying the farmers' crops to stay in your house and not be in your yards or gardens on that day.

So long Mr. Louie Hirschowitz. He was a good man. I remember a long time ago some young Democrat assessor assessed my property about 10 times what it was worth. I went to Mr. Louie and he come down and looked at it and said, "That's outrageous." He cut it in half, what this assessor had it. He was a good man. He'll be sadly, sadly missed.

In order to encourage the use of bicycles within the city, it would be helpful if the businesses such as banks, city offices, grocery stores would install bike racks. People are not likely to use their bikes unless they can lock them up. I'd like to see that happening here in Sikeston.
