SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Junior Legion Auxiliary Unit 114 baseball team improved to 5-1 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Jackson in the team's district opener on Tuesday at VFW Stadium. Sikeston defeated Jackson 5-4 in the district contest in eight innings and then followed that up with a 5-3 win against Jackson that did not count towards the district standings...

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Junior Legion Auxiliary Unit 114 baseball team improved to 5-1 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Jackson in the team's district opener on Tuesday at VFW Stadium.

Sikeston defeated Jackson 5-4 in the district contest in eight innings and then followed that up with a 5-3 win against Jackson that did not count towards the district standings.

Unit 114's Caleb Davidson provided the game-winning RBI as he singled into centerfield with the bases loaded to bring in Blair Bohannon.

Bohannon was also the winning pitcher.

Tim Hart had two hits with a double. Jason Isaacs had two singles. Stephen Beydler had one hit.

In the second game, Josh Carlyle was the winning pitcher for Sikeston. Bohannon picked up the save.

Carlyle also had two hits, including a double. Darin Dicus and Logan Kirkpatrick each had doubles. Hart and Michael Brown each had singles.

Sikeston will compete in a tournament in Jonesboro (Ark.). Unit 114 will play the host team, Fat City, at 7:30 Friday night. The tournament is being held at Arkansas State University.
