SIKESTON -- The city has spent a week looking but none of the allocated money to find the leak at the Sikeston Jaycee Pool.
City staff "dug three more test pits since last week and still haven't found the leak," City Manager Doug Friend reported during a special reorganizational Sikeston City Council meeting Monday.
During a joint meeting with YMCA of Southeast Missouri's Board of Directors April 2, Council members agreed to spend no more than $5,000 looking for the leak.
While city manhours were used in the search for the leak using information provided by Howard Gipson of Gipson Construction, none of the money has been spent yet, according to Friend.
Friend said they will continue to look for the leak and report to the Council during the noon budget meeting scheduled Tuesday so the city can advise YMCA officials on whether they will have the leak fixed or not.
