Lowes, Murph playing well at next level

SIKESTON -- A pair of local high school products continue to perform well at the next level.

Former Sikeston standout Justin Lowes has started every game for the Southern Illinois Salukis at defensive tackle. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound senior has helped the Division I-AA nationally ranked Salukis to a 4-0 start, including a win against Division I-A Indiana. Lowes has registered a sack and a tackle for a loss so far this season.

Also having a big game this past Saturday was former New Madrid County Central standout Brian Murph, a wide receiver at Kansas University who had eight catches for 129 yards with a touchdown in an overtime loss to Nebraska. Both totals were season highs for the senior.
