SIKESTON -- The Sikeston wrestling team lost a dual match against the Dexter Bearcats on Thursday evening at the Sikeston Field House, 55-11.

Sikeston forfeited nine matches which contributed to the lopsided final score.

Sikeston lone winners were Gavilan Bland and Josh Northern.

Bland (160 pounds) won by technical fall over Wes McColloch, 19-4 in the first period.

Northern (heavyweight), pinned Mike Spencer in 50 seconds for his victory.

Sikeston's Nick De La Rosa (112) lost to Mike Hensley 15-6. Logan Berry (145) was defeated by Dexter's Matt Overall 6-4.

In the 152 class, Sikeston's Aaron Dicus was pinned by Eric Grimes in 1:17.

"(Gavilan and Josh) wrestled well," said first-year Sikeston coach Chris Crosby.

"The whole team is wrestling hard and they're doing the things we're asking. It's just some little things we need to correct and get better. By the end of the season I feel like we'll be an improved team."

Sikeston will compete in the Affton Tournament this Saturday.
