NEW MADRID - Lisa Godwin and Julie Victor of New Madrid R-1 School District recently attended the 58th Annual Missouri School Counselor Association Fall Conference held at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Lake of the Ozarks.
This year's conference theme was "School Counselors...the Essential Piece". A variety of workshops provided professional development opportunities for the counselors to enhance their counseling programs. Mrs. Godwin volunteered as a facilitator and Mrs. Victor assisted with registration.
Mike Smith, motivational keynote speaker, presented "Helping Make Great THings Happen." Academy Award and 16-time Emmy Award-winning producer, Arnold Shapiro reinforced the commitment, passion and motivation of counselors in his keynote address titled "What a Difference Making a Difference Makes."
The MSCA 2006 Fun Run/Walk and silent auction raised over $3000 for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
