Robert Summers

EAST PRAIRIE - Robert Dalton Summers, 70, formerly of Marion, Ill., died at 2:

05 a.m. Oct. 13, 2006, in the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Born April 25, 1936, at Cairo, Ill., to the late Fred Summers and Ida Mae Taylor Summers Hurley, he had lived in East Prairie for the past year, moving from Marion. He retired July 26, 1997, from the Army National Guard as a sergeant and was also a veteran of U.S. Marines.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nancy Summers of Hemet, Calif.; one daughter, Vickie Delrial of East Prairie; two sisters, Mary Goodermote of Herrin, Ill. and Norma Jean Albright of Marion; and one grandson, Michael Delrial of East Prairie.

Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Mounds National Cemetery at Mounds City, Ill., with full military honors provided by the Missouri Funeral Honors Program.
