Born Oct. 12, 1924, at Shelbyville, Ark., son of the late James and Alberta Herring Baker, he was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving during World War II. CLARKTON -- Paul Everett Baker, 82, died Nov. 16, 2006, at his home.

Born Oct. 12, 1924, at Shelbyville, Ark., son of the late James and Alberta Herring Baker, he was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving during World War II.

On March 20, 1944, at Powhatatan, Ark., he married Mary A. Lawson who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Jackie Baker of Poplar Bluff, James Baker of Malden and Steven Baker of Sikeston; two daughters, Betty Ann Pattillo and Sandra Kay Smith of Gideon; one brother, O'Neal Baker of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: three brothers, Edgar Baker, Leslie Baker and Ellis Baker; one sister, Effie Stewart; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is from noon until time of services at 2 p.m. today at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Robert Brown will officiate.

Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery at Clarkton.
