DEXTER -- Carl Book, 86, died Nov. 16, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born Nov. 26, 1919, at Malden, son of the late Samuel J. Tildon and Dora Woolard Book, he was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Dexter, a retired Nazarene minister and the former owner of Madison One Hour Cleaners in Madison Heights, Mich.

On July 21, 1940, at Malden, he married Alene Esterline who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Roy Lee Book of Melbourne, Fla., and Kenneth Leon Book of Okmulgee, Okla.; three daughters, Carlene Joyce Soroka of Cleveland, Tenn., Paula Faye Burk of Rochester, Mich., and Cheryl Lynn Hurttgam of Sterling Heights, Mich.; one sister, Ina Berra of St. Louis; and 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Book, Arthur Book and Eugene Book; two half-brothers, Ray McElrath and Roy McElrath; one sister, Grace Book; one half-sister, Ruth McElrath; and one grandson.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the First Church of the Nazarene in Dexter with the Rev. Roger Norton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
