BENTON - Incorrect information was reported by the Scott County Clerk's office on Tuesday night following the special election that day. Tally sheets first showed that Don Weakley was elected director for District Three of the Southern Scott County Ambulance District. Actually, Clarence Cantrell was elected director of that district. The official final tally shows Cantrell with 86 votes and Weakley with 83 votes.

SIKESTON - All eyes were on Hal Glicksman recently as the CBS director of production told Sikeston Junior High School students what that were to say during their segment of the "Class of 2000" promotion. The CBS crew included the local school in their journey across the U.S. to film students of the Class of 2000. The SJHS debut was made throughout the day Jan. 24.

ESSEX - The Richland Rebels managed to defeat Dexter on Tuesday night, 65-51. Jay McMullin rose to the occasion, playing the game of his high school career, ending with 18 points. McMullin was unstoppable in the third period, scoring eight consecutive field goals. "Before the game, I told the kids to forget records, Dexter was good enough to beat us," said Richland head coach Doyle Pitts.
