SIKESTON - Mrs. Harold Ancell entertained this afternoon with a birthday party for her son, Charles Dover Ancell. Charles celebrated his first birthday.


CHARLESTON - A daughter was born this morning at a Cairo, Ill., hospital to Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Walton Jr. of Charleston.

MOREHOUSE - About 265 people of the Morehouse C-12 School District voted at the high school this morning in a special election to determine whether the C-12 District should be annexed to the Sikeston R-6 School District. Polls opened at 6 a.m. and closed at 7 p.m. The effort was approved by eight votes.

SIKESTON - With its bank loan paid off and $100,000 in a special high interest account, the Southern Scott County Ambulance District now faces its second year of operation.


SIKESTON - As part of a class assignment, fourth grade Southeast Elementary students made models of volcanoes which were later filled with a powder substance that sparked and made ashes when lighted.

SIKESTON - The Mission Missouri, formerly known as the Christian Block Party, will serve as administrators of the new Homeless Shelter, located at the old Lincoln School gym on Westgate Street. Mission Missouri hosted their grand opening on Friday, Feb. 13.


SIKESTON - Dustin Underhill, of Troop 43 in Sikeston, recently completed his Eagle Scout Project by striping the parking lots of the First United Methodist Church. He was assisted by fellow Scouts Chris French and Ryan Aldrich.
