SIKESTON - Foster grandparents have been a vital asset through their work at the New Dawn State School in Sikeston for over 10 years. Because of the service, the Sikeston Foster Grandparent Program, sponsored by the Housing Authority of Sikeston, was recently chosen for nomination of the Presidential Volunteer Award.
SIKESTON - A special half-time presentation in recognition of the men and women of Sikeston Public Schools who "made the supreme sacrifice in military action on behalf of their country" will be made Jan. 31 at the varsity basketball game between the Sikeston Bulldogs and the Dexter Bearcats.

SIKESTON - The AARP Tax Aide Volunteer Program has 14 Southeast Missouri sites for elderly and low income individuals during the upcoming tax season. A training session was conducted in Sikeston by Laverne Nothdurft, district coordinator, and her team. Volunteers were trained for sites in Sikeston, New Madrid, Chaffee, East Prairie, Charleston and other surrounding towns.
