NEW MADRID - Plans are under way for the Riverbend Chapter of Ducks Unlimited annual fundraiser and banquet.
Bill Henry, chairman, called the fundraiser an important way for area residents to show their support for the environment and the future.
"In North America every nine minutes, a wetland the size of a football field vanishes," said Henry. "The money raised through events like ours helps fund the restoration of wetlands at a faster pace than they are being lost."
This year's banquet will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at Rebecca Sharp's Catering in New Madrid. The family-oriented event will include dinner, auctions, raffles and interactive games.
Auction items range from art prints, including one of the Ralph McDonald series prints for Duck Unlimited to limited-edition guns and other items.
Tickets are $30 per person, $50 per couple, and for Greenwings, those age 17 and under, $10 each. Tickets are available by calling 573-748-5487 or contacting a member of the planning committee.
