SIKESTON - City Manager Raymert Miller said he received notice from the Department of Defense and that it filed motion to intervene on behalf of Blytheville, Ark., in the Civil Aeronautics Board hearing in February in Oklahoma City. This means the DOD is interested in commercial air service to Blytheville and wants to be heard.
SIKESTON - The Eagles Club in Sikeston once again this year assisted those in need, delivering food baskets on Sunday. About 200 baskets were delivered this year.
SIKESTON - Local law enforcement personnel report a rather uneventful holiday with no serious injuries and no fatalities for the area. "We were very fortunate and short of a few minor fender-benders on the icy bridges, we had nothing serious to report," said Lt. Jim McNiell, commander at the Missouri State Highway Patrol Satellite Station.

CAPE GIRARDEAU (SMNS) - Instead of "Up on the rooftop, click, click, click, on Christmas Eve at one Cape Girardeau restaurant it was "In through the window, smash, crash, bash," as a confused deer got trapped in Bessie's Smorgasbord. "It was truly amazing," said Dale Hendrix, who saw the deer launch herself through the window. "I saw it running across the street and it got into the parking lot and all of a sudden it went right through the glass."
