Sikeston softball picks up first victory
BROSELEY - The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs softball team notched their first victory of the year on the road late Thursday night with a 5-1 victory over the Twin Rivers Lady Royals.
The Lady Bulldogs plated three runs in the top of the seventh to put away Twin Rivers.
Winning pitcher Mara Krokstrom threw all seven innings allowing six hits, three walks and struck out two.
Kaitlyn Turnbow paced the offense for Sikeston with two hits and a RBI. Emilie Martin tripled and drove in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs.
Kaycie Williams drove in a run with a hit for Sikeston. Katie DeLaRosa and Desiree Martin each tallied a single for the Lady Bulldogs.
"The girls played an awesome game," said Sikeston head coach Tiffany King. "They had mental toughness going into the game and were focused the whole way. I have seen improvements with each players at times during the season and today they put it all together and played as a team and won as a team. I am so proud of the way they played and how the small steps are starting to show."
Sikeston (1-15) travels to Jackson on Monday to take on the Lady Indians at 4 p.m.
